Assault reported in Invercargill

Police are investigating a report of a possible assault on a female at a walking track in Invercargill last night.

Police said they received a report that a woman was assaulted by two people on the Estuary walking track, near the Roger Sutton Boardwalk, opposite Kew Road, in Invercargill around 6.15pm yesterday.

Police said they would now like to identify the woman, to ensure she was safe and well, and have asked for anyone who may have been walking or cycling on the track around that time to contact them.

The woman was believed to be wearing a dark coloured hooded top and grey yoga pants with gym shoes.

She was also walking what appeared to be a young dog, which was possibly a german shepherd, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Police on 03 211 0400, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
