Auckland crash disrupts traffic

A car flipped in a two-car smash on the Southern Motorway in Auckland today, causing traffic to snarl up.

Motorists were told to expect delays after the incident.

No one was injured in the collision just before 10am, police northern communications Inspector Cornell Klussein said.

The incident occurred in a city-bound lane near the Takanini offramp.

"It was a crash involving two cars but one car rolled.

"No one was injured in it but it caused a bit of delay, with the tail back to ... Papakura," he said.

St John said one ambulance attended the incident and two patients were taken to Middlemore in a moderate condition.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said traffic was still heavy in the area at 11am.

"Southern Motorway is open but heavy south of Takanini due to a serious crash with tail back to Rushgreen. Avoid or expect delays," the NZTA tweeted.
