A crash between a motorcycle and another vehicle on the West Coast has left one person dead.
The deceased, who has not been identified, was the rider of the motorbike.
The crash happened on the Arnold Valley road, near the Stillwater end east of Greymouth about 1:45pm.
West Coast area commander inspector John Canning said the motorcyclist was part of a group of other motorcyclists travelling through the area.
The road was closed this afternoon and diversions were in place while the crash was cleared.
A police examination of the scene has begun.
