Woman trapped after car hits house

One person is trapped after a car crashed into a house in north of Auckland this morning.

Police have revealed the person was a woman, who was struck after the car rolled down the bank towards the house, trapping her underneath it.

Fire services were at the scene in Leigh working to free the woman and a Westpac helicopter was on its way.

A fire spokesman said the accident happened at about 10:30 this morning.

The woman is now being airlifted to Auckland City Hospital. An Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokeswoman said the woman was in her 20s and had suffered "crush injuries".

A police statement said the woman was trapped under the car after it had rolled down a bank towards the house on Pakiri Road at around 10:30 this morning.

Fire services also attended the scene and helped free the woman.

Auckland Westpac Rescue helicopter crew treated and stabilised the woman before transporting her to hospital. No other details around the injured woman's condition are available at this stage.
