Manawatu crash victim named

A man who died after being flung from a vehicle in a crash near Ohakea in the Manawatu at the weekend has been named.

He was Carl Amey, of Rongotea.

Police said the 23-year-old lost control of his vehicle while rounding a right-hand bend on Tangimoana Rd about 2.40am on Saturday.

Mr Amey, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit was nvestigating.

Police reminded road users to take regular breaks while travelling over the long weekend, and to always wear seat belts.
