Is there anything Richie McCaw can't do?

The celebrated rugby great - already a qualified glider and helicopter pilot - announced this morning that he had gained his commercial fixed wing pilot's licence.

A photo on his Facebook page shows an elated McCaw grinning as he shakes hands following the achievement.

"Finally nailed my commercial fixed wing licence (CPL). Thanks to Peter Hendriks, CJ McCaw and Dave H for their help," he posted.

After retiring as All Blacks captain, McCaw began training as a commercial pilot with Christchurch Helicopters.

He has already put his helicopter skills to work with other pilots, using the downdraft from rotor blades to protect frost-threatened grape vines in Marlborough.

McCaw has been gliding regularly since 2006 and has entered national championships.
