Police looking for missing Chinese woman

A photo and footage of the last known location of a 60-year-old Chinese woman, who was reported missing, has been released in order to help find her.

Yaqin Wu entered New Zealand with a tour group on Sunday and was staying at the Heartland Hotel in Airpark Drive in Mangere.

She was reported missing after leaving the hotel early on Wednesday morning and not returning.

Before leaving, Yaqin Wu made comments to members of the tour group that have caused police to hold fears for her mental wellbeing.

CCTV footage released today shows her leaving the hotel foyer around 2.55am.

She was wearing a waist length red jacket, a white wide-brimmed hat and carrying a white backpack. Ms Wu is 150cm tall and of slim build.

A photo provided by her family has also been released.

Search and Rescue began to scour the area around the Heartland Hotel, including searching nearby parks and reserves on Wednesday afternoon.

They are continuing with the search.

Meanwhile, an ethnic liaison officer has been in contact with Ms Wu's family in China.

Yaqin Wu does not speak any English and is not believed to know anyone in New Zealand.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on Ms Wu to contact the Counties Manukau Police District Command Centre on 09 263 2709.
