Firefighters called back house fire

Firefighters have been called back to a house fire after passers-by saw flames coming out from underneath the home.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said the Tokoroa house first erupted in flames about 10.20pm yesterday.

Firefighters required back-up from a further five fire appliances from the town and Putaruru.

The occupants of the home managed to escape unscathed.

However, at about 7am today, firefighters were again called after the flames were spotted.

A fire safety officer is investigating the cause of the blaze.
