A barn on a property in Carterton has been engulfed in flames.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Rutland Rd, Parkvale shortly before 11pm.
A Central Fire Communications spokesman said the fire was well involved in the building.
"It is a 20m by 50m barn. It is fully involved in fire and was when we arrived. At this stage it isn't under control."
He said there had been no reports of anyone in the barn or having sustained any injuries.
Eight appliances are at the scene and several support units are on their way to the scene from Wellington.
