Firearms, farm tools stolen from rural property

A number of firearms and farm tools were stolen from two rural properties near Invercargill last night.

Police say the thefts are a timely reminder to ensure all properties are locked.

"We need to remind people to be diligent and ensure everything is locked and secure, including all sheds and outbuilding," Sergeant Phill Hamlin said.

"Dark and windy nights can conceal an offender's movements, so it is beneficial for people to install security lighting and keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour or people who look out of place."

Police ask anyone with information related to the thefts to call Invercargill Police Station on 03 211 0400, or anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
