A would-be car thief in Invercargill met his downfall after crashing into a wheelie bin.
A red Subaru Justy was stolen from outside a house on Mavora Court in Invercargill on Thursday, and was later found crashed into a wheelie bin on Conyers St.
The driver then left the scene with the vehicle on top of the wheelie bin and the engine still running.
Police are calling for members of the public who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour on Mavora Court, or seen the crash, to contact police on (03) 211-0400.
