Wellington police are investigating the third sexual assault in the city in about a week.
This morning's alleged attack happened on Taranaki St at about 5.30am.
Police did not believe the attack was connected to an assault on Wednesday, when a man dragged a woman into the bushes on a walkway between Ohiro Rd and Brooklyn Rd at about 7pm.
Yesterday, a 40-year-old man was arrested after a sexual assault on a 65-year-old woman in Porirua last Friday.
The Johnsonville man has been charged with rape, abduction, aggravated wounding, threatening to kill, burglary and three sexual violation offences.
He will appear in the Porirua District Court this morning.
