Kiwi arrested after fatal hit-and-run in Melbourne

A New Zealander has been arrested in Melbourne after a fatal hit-and-run in West Melbourne this morning.

The 21-year-old man, who lives in North Melbourne, was arrested earlier this morning on separate matters.

He will now be interviewed by detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit about his alleged involvement in the incident.

A 22-year-old woman from New South Wales was crossing the road when she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of King and Victoria Streets at around 4.15am (NZT).

It's alleged the occupant of vehicle then left the scene.
