Police seek Meals on Wheels conman

A former Meals on Wheels delivery man ripped off clients in Christchurch and took cheques and credit cards from them, police say.

The 29-year-old man delivered to 115 homes and had conned cards and pin numbers from some victims, Detective Sergeant Darryl Sweeney said.

He said police were trying to contact all of the people on the man's delivery run but needed families and neighbours to keep an eye out.

The man was fired in April for dishonesty.

He was also known to have posed as a police officer, a Telecom contractor and a bank manager, and had also taken vouchers from service stations while distracting the shop assistants.

Police were not able to name the man, but described him as Caucausian, 173cm tall with sandy blonde hair.

There was a warrant out for his arrest.
