Hundreds of striking miners returned to work today after
ending a month-long industrial dispute with Solid Energy.
Miners and maintenance staff at the company's Huntly East,
Rotowaro and Stockton coalmines voted yesterday to accept an
offer of a 2 percent pay increase in the first year and 3
percent in the second, as well as a lump sum of about $2000,
with additional provisions for each mine.
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union spokesman Rob
Egan said miners who had continued to strike in solidarity
after earlier accepting the national agreement also returned
to work today.
