Jury retires in Howick murder trial

A jury has retired to consider whether two men are guilty of murdering Auckland man Daryl Graydon in 2007.

The men, whose names are suppressed, were charged after Mr Graydon was stabbed to death while walking home from a party in Howick, southeast Auckland, in December 2007.

The two 20-year-olds are also charged with attempting to murder Mr Graydon's colleague Campbell Sussex in the same incident.

The Crown told the High Court in Auckland that the accused men planned the attack and armed themselves with knives after one of them was punched by Mr Graydon a little earlier.

The jury of seven women and five men retired about 2.10pm at the beginning of the fourth week of the trial.
