Police are calling for witnesses of a fatal car accident near
Christchurch yesterday to come forward.
A woman was killed and seven people were injured when the
woman's car and a minivan collided on State Highway 1 at
Belfast, 11km north of Christchurch, at 2.20pm.
Police are looking for witnesses to the crash as well as the
male driver of a Charcoal or dark coloured station wagon that
was crossing the intersection at the time of the incident,
Constable Pamela Cox of New Brighton police said.
That vehicle arrived at the intersection from Chaneys on the
Eastern section of Main North Road, she said. A St John
ambulance spokesman said as a result of the crash seven young
teenagers, were taken to Christchurch hospital, two seriously
injured and five with minor injuries.
