Police today continued the search for a mystery vehicle
believed to have caused a crash that left a Lincoln
University lecturer dead on Friday.
Lynette Boddington, 50, died after her red Daihatsu collided
with a minivan carrying seven children on State Highway 1 at
Belfast, 11km north of Christchurch, at 2.20pm.
The children, aged between 10 and 12, were taken to
Christchurch Hospital with minor injuries. Police said they
were looking for the male driver of a charcoal or dark
coloured station wagon that was crossing the intersection at
the time of the incident.
Constable Pamela Cox of New Brighton police said that vehicle
arrived at the intersection from Chaneys on the Eastern
section of Main North Road.
She said police were still interviewing witnesses and planned
to watch footage of an NZ Transport Agency camera, which
monitors the intersection.
