A fishing boat that ran aground off the Catlins coast has
been refloated.
The crew of the Silver Fern, a 12-metre wooden-hulled
trawler, sent a mayday call at 5.49am yesterday to the Rescue
Co-ordination Centre to report it had beached at Curio Bay.
The two men on board the vessel were never in any danger
Senior Sergeant Dave Raynes, of Invercargill told the
Southland Times.
Police organised for an oyster boat which was fishing near
Stewart Island to pull it off the beach and it was towed away
for repairs.
