A freight train derailed last night spilling wine onto to the
tracks.
The train derailed near Palmerston North tipping over four
wagons carrying wine tankers.
But only one tanker ruptured spilling its contents on to the
tracks, Kiwirail spokesman Kevin Ramshaw told NZPA.
He said the track between Palmerston North and Wellington
would remain blocked until later today.
Mr Ramshaw said he was unsure of the type of wine spilled, or
what caused the tankers to go off the rails.
