A legal row which last year reached the highest court in the
land -- a challenge by a small group of fine wool growers
against the way they were treated by the former Wool Board --
will be tried again in the Court of Appeal on June 30.
Wool Equities Ltd chairman Cliff Heath said yesterday the
Supreme Court had ordered the Court of Appeal's decision in
favour of the Wool Board Disestablishment Co. Ltd (DisCo)
against Saxmere Co. Ltd be set aside.
"The date for the re-hearing has been set at June 30," he
said. Saxon woolgrowers initially complained the Wool Board
refused to recognise Saxon as a wool type that entitled
farmers to a specific share of wool levies.
Mr Heath said the verdict had been set on the grounds there
was a reasonable possibility of the personal and business
relationship one of the three Court of Appeal judges had with
DisCo's counsel might raise a perception of bias.
