Labour MP Nanaia Mahuta has had a baby girl.
The 42-year-old, who represents Hauraki-Waikato, has given
birth to Niua-Cybele Mahuta by Caesarean section.
Ms Mahuta, who is married to William Ormsby, said she has
been able to juggle motherhood with her demanding career as
an MP and aimed to return to Parliament early next year.
The MP, who was education spokeswoman this year, took her
newborn son Waiwaia Nukutawhiti Mahuta to Parliament in 2009.
In 2008 her first son Ormsby was born prematurely, and lived
for just an hour.
She said it was very traumatic and a tragedy for her family
and had thrown herself into the election campaign to cope.
