The Green Party wants a debate on water with Federated
Farmers president Charlie Pedersen, but is having trouble
pinning him down.
Party co-leader Russel Norman contacted Mr Pedersen, after
hearing him discussing water on a radio station.
Dr Norman said Mr Pedersen told listeners farmers should be
paid for the rain water that flowed off their farms into
rivers
"Mr Pedersen said `water is a debate the country needs to
address'," Dr Norman said.
He emailed Mr Pedersen on Wednesday suggesting a face-to-face
debate at the Mystery Creek Fieldays in Hamilton next week.
"Mr Pedersen's secretary has replied saying his schedule for
Fieldays is very tight and he wouldn't be able to fit this
in," Dr Norman said.
"I hope the two of us can find a time and venue."
