Debriefing on flood

The Queenstown Lakes District Council will this evening hold a meeting to discuss last month's flood with the community. Mayor Clive Geddes said he had already had a debriefing with the council's emergency management team.

Lake levels had risen and caused some surface flooding of areas around Marine Pde and Beach St early last month.

The council wanted to make sure the community was happy with how it had responded to the flood alert, Mr Geddes said.

The council staff had surveyed business owners in the flood risk areas and would present the results at the meeting.

They would also be seeking feedback and presenting some ideas on how to improve flood management in the future, he said.

The meeting will be held at the Millennium Hotel at 6.30pm.
