One hundred and thirty works by 35 New Zealand artists
will go under the hammer at the fourth biennial St Joseph's
School PTA Art Auction on Saturday, September 11.
The popular event in the Queenstown Memorial Hall aims to
raise more than $10,000 to update the school's computers.
"The event is a great opportunity to purchase a great
painting and support St Joseph's school and [enjoy] a fun
evening," PTA spokeswoman Nicky Thompson said.
Landscapes, portraits, ceramics and sculptures - contributed
from such artistic luminaries as Ivan Clarke, Hope Gibbons,
Karen Scott, Simon Morrison-Deaker, Sue Wademan, Brian
Millard and Nigel Wilson - will be on the auction block.
A public viewing will be held in the hall between 2pm and
4pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.
Drinks and canapes will be offered from 6pm and the auction
starts at 7pm. Entry is $10.
The auction is expected to feature about 45 artworks and will
be marshalled by licensed auctioneer Brendan Quill.
A silent auction was likely to feature about the same number
of pieces, organisers said.
