Competitors set out on the 10km run of the Frontrunner
series on a fine but chilly Saturday morning.
"It is a perfect day for running. How lucky we are with
the weather," Frontrunner event director Adrian Bailey said on
a chilly, but sunny and calm Saturday morning.
The fifth of seven Frontrunner events attracted 259
competitors, who could choose either a 5km or 10km run.
Mr Bailey said the monthly event had proven popular over
winter, where there were fewer other events. It attracted
mostly runners from the Wakatipu and neighbouring districts.
The final event in November, which would be supplemented with
a half-marathon, had received registrations from throughout
the country.
"Jack's Point is a spectacular setting for the event, and
many come back for more of the competitions," he said.
A total prize pool of $30,000 would also have attracted many
to compete, along with the special spot prize of an adventure
trip to Peru, to be drawn from those who had competed in at
least four out of the seven events.
