Controversial American cyclist Lance Armstrong is
understood to be holidaying in the Queenstown Lakes district
with his partner Anna Hansen and 3-month old daughter Olivia.
Armstrong's Gulfstream Aerospace G-IV private jet, which is
operated under the name Mellow Johnny's Aviation, is parked
at Queenstown Airport.
Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France winner whose
illustrious career has been dogged by doping allegations,
which he has consistently denied, contested the 2011
Australian Tour Down Under cycling event last week.
In his last race outside of the United States, he finished
67th in Adelaide last Sunday and was to have competed in a
triathlon in Rotorua today, but pulled out because of a knee
injury.
The latest update on Armstrong's Twitter page, made on
January 24, simply says "vacation time".
