The organisation representing five bed-and-breakfast
operators in Queenstown and 425 operators throughout New
Zealand is changing its name to Bed and Breakfast Association
New Zealand.
"The change of name will make it more obvious who the
association represents and better reflects its role as an
advocacy group for its members," chief executive Trevor
Knight said last week.
The organisation was previously known as @home New Zealand.
"We believe the new name is more meaningful for our overall
function and is implicit of strong national unity. It is also
inclusive, incorporating sub-group descriptions such as farm
stays and homestays," Mr Knight said.
The decision to change the name was made at the association's
annual meeting, at Skyline in Rotorua, on May 28.
Mr Knight said to keep costs down, the new name would be
introduced gradually over the next year; in conjunction with
the revamp of the association's website, due for completion
within the next month.
