St Joseph's PTA keen to get Latta back

Parenting tips by Auckland psychologist Nigel Latta proved so popular last week St Joseph's School's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is keen to have him back next year.

About 350 Wakatipu parents packed the City Impact Church, Frankton, to hear the parent and therapist give his "Politically Incorrect Parenting for Boys and Girls" stage show.

PTA co-chairwoman Pauline Copeland said on Friday Dr Latta offered entertaining and common-sense parenting tips, such as the "ladder of doom" - the application of small incremental amounts of punishment for bad behaviour, "which has very positive results".

More than $6000 was raised from ticket sales. Proceeds would go towards maths kits and stereo systems in classrooms which could be linked to iPods and the school's existing Ultranet.

Dr Latta will take his new show, "Politically Incorrect Guide to Grown Ups", nationwide in February.
