Kawakawa Road (2011), an oil on linen diptych by Auckland artist Karl Maughan, is one of 40 to 50 fine artworks destined for display in Milford Galleries Queenstown from February 11 to March 7. Photo supplied. |
About 50 artworks by 17 leading New Zealand contemporary
artists will be shown in Milford Galleries Queenstown from
Saturday.
Metal sculptor Neil Dawson, of Christchurch, the man who
created the still-standing Chalice totem in the city's
Cathedral Square, plus cast-glass artist Ann Robinson, oil
painter of garden settings Karl Maughan and expressionist pop
artist Dick Frizzell, all of Auckland, are among the talents
whose work will be on display on both floors of the gallery
on Church Lane.
Art consultant Jacinta Byron said on Monday "Chosen" was the
gallery's first group exhibition of the year.
"It brings together some of the best examples of painting,
glass and sculpture from the artists we represent.
"Evocative landscapes, masterful cast-glass works, intricate
sculptures and dynamic painted surfaces show the diversity
and quality of selected New Zealand artists' works."
"Chosen" runs from February 11 to March 7.
