More than 100 pupils from St Joseph's School made a special
visit to The Millennium yesterday, where they were
entertained for the afternoon by The Wonky Donkey
author Craig Smith.
Audience participation was high on the agenda as Smith
encouraged sing-alongs to many songs, including All I Want
For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth, Toothless,
Willbee the Bumblebee and, of course, The Wonky
Donkey.
St Joseph's deputy principal Lisa Bailey said Smith's show at
The Millennium was perfect timing for the school, which was
holding its Scholastic Book Fair.
Children and parents had the chance to purchase books before
or after school, with a percentage of the sales allowing St
Joseph's to purchase new books for its library.
The book fair aimed to ignite a passion for literature in the
children.
The junior syndicate visited the library this week and all
the school's pupils were being encouraged to dress as their
favourite book character for school on Friday.
