• A Bob's Cove dog owner claimed their dog was kidnapped on Wednesday afternoon, before being safely returned half an hour later.

Queenstown police received a call from a "distressed" dog owner who reported her dog had been taken by a "dirty four-wheel-drive", Sergeant Chris Blackford said.

The woman told police she had been walking her dogs and the older pet had been lagging behind.

She heard a car pull up and someone yell "let's go", before the vehicle drove off with her dog.

However, 30 minutes later the dog was back in the same spot, in the same condition.
