Crash into paddock from lose of control

A 31-year-old Queenstown woman "lost control" of her vehicle at 7pm on Tuesday, crashing through a fence and into a paddock at Gibbston.

Sergeant Mark Gill, of Queenstown, said the crash, 300m south of Gibbston Winery, occurred when the woman struck "something" which caused her to go over the fence and travel 100m into a paddock.

"She has told officers that something had hit her.

"Investigations will be ongoing and charges may follow," Sgt Gill said.

• A 26-year-old Queenstown man was arrested for allegedly swinging on light fittings at Cowboys bar.

Sgt Gill said the man allegedly damaged the fittings to the extent that wires were left exposed.

He will appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday charged with wilful damage.

• A 24-year-old Auckland man wanted for breaching bail was spotted at Queenstown Airport by local officers. He appeared in the Invercargill District Court last Tuesday.

• A trailer was stolen from a Jack's Point yard about 12.45pm on Tuesday. It is a 1995 model with a cage.

• The Queenstown Police Facebook page helped to catch a 21-year-old British national sought in regard to a stolen phone. The phone was left at the Queenstown Gardens on May 9 and the man was arrested in Gorge Rd at 2.30 on Tuesday and charged with theft, after he failed to hand it in to police. A member of the public called police after seeing the man's image online.
