School land settlement date changed

The conditional period for the sale and purchase agreements on two blocks of land at the former Wanaka Primary School site has been extended until the end of June.

The land at the school site in Tenby St was put on the market in April by the Ministry of Education and Land Information New Zealand approved conditional agreements for both properties on May 17. June 17 was the designated date for the agreements to become unconditional, but a ministry spokesperson said yesterday the timeframe had been extended.

The names of the new owners would not be be released until settlement date, which is expected to be at the end of July.

A third block of the former school site - containing most of the Warren St floodlit synthetic turf - which was sold to Ngai Tahu, was on-sold to neighbours of the property for more than $1 million, including GST. The neighbours bought the land to preserve their lake view.
