Man found after reported missing on track

A Queenstown police search and rescue operation was launched on Monday night when a 58-year-old Christchurch man was reported missing on Arrowtown's Macetown track.

The man had "got himself lost", Sergeant Mark Gill said, but was able to contact his friend on his cellphone at 7.20pm. He was located after seven river crossings into the walk.

• A 54-year-old Queenstown man failed to appear at the Queenstown District Court on Monday and was held overnight by police after they tracked him down at Buffalo Bar at 2am yesterday. The man was to appear on charges related to the possession of cannabis and a breach of Queenstown's liquor ban.

• Three Englishmen were found intoxicated on TSS Earnslaw at 4.40am yesterday, Sergeant Mark Gill said. A 26-year-old, 24-year-old and 20-year-old were charged with trespassing and will appear in the Queenstown District Court on August 27.
