Local man breaks bail

A Queenstown man was arrested at 12am on Sunday for allegedly breaching his bail conditions. Constable Dan Andrew said the man was arrested at his home but had breached his curfew and had been drinking alcohol.

• At 3am on Sunday, $400 cash and a MacBook Pro were stolen from a Frankton Rd address. Const Andrew said the occupant of the house had left a door unlocked and when he returned from town, the computer and cash were missing from the living room.

He said the majority of burglaries tended to be opportunistic "so it's probably just a reminder to lock doors on cars and what have you when you can".

• At 1.40am on Sunday, rocks were thrown at a window of an Arrowtown property.

Inquiries are continuing.

• At 12.30am on Sunday, a man was spoken to by police after being caught drinking alcohol in a liquor ban area. He allegedly became abusive and swore at police and was arrested and charged with breaching the liquor ban.

• At 12.07am on Sunday, police arrested a man and charged him with theft after he was caught on CCTV allegedly taking money from a wallet at a central backpackers.
