Trouble in Queenstown

A 29-year-old Frenchman was caught urinating in Shotover St in Queenstown at 9.46pm on Tuesday, police said.

When spoken to, the man became agitated and was found to be carrying a knife, which he said was for protection.

He was arrested and charged with offensive behaviour and possession of a knife.

• A man who was told he could not purchase alcohol, due to his intoxication, tried to steal food and a bottle of wine from Fresh Choice at 11.20pm on Wednesday, Sergeant Mark Gill said.

The man threatened staff and left, management reported.

At 2.45am yesterday a police officer who had viewed CCTV footage from the incident, recognised the 23-year-old Christchurch man outside a bar in Shotover St and he man was arrested and charged with theft.

• A 29-year-old Czech man was arrested outside a Queenstown nightclub at 2.15am yesterday, after he caused a disturbance when he was refused entry, due to his intoxication. He received a pre-charge warning.
