Young Wakatipu people have the chance to meet at least one
and up to four of New Zealand's Olympic heroes when they
visit the Youth Booth in Queenstown on Friday.
Olympic gold medallist Eric Murray, who won the final of the
men's rowing pair with Hamish Bond during the London Games
this year, has made time in his busy schedule to visit the
booth on Stanley St and encourage young people to achieve
their goals in life.
Murray will be on hand to show his medal and talk about
athletics, his Olympics experience and his future.
He is tipped to attend the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.
Wakatipu Youth Trust team leader Poppie Gerber said yesterday
it was "definitely possible" Murray could be joined in the
booth by fellow Olympians rowers Storm Uru and Juliette Haigh
and sculler Mahe Drysdale, although their appearance would
not be known until the day.
• Murray and possibly others will be available to talk with
youths on Friday, from 4pm-4.30pm.
