Earlier in the year he ran the length of Chile in 65
days.
Now Queenstown's Harald Ulriksen is two weeks away from
running 1000km in the United Kingdom.
Mr Ulriksen sets off for a solo journey from Inverness to
Brighton on November 20 and plans to complete the challenge
unsupported within 14 days.
That means he will run an average of 70km per day.
His efforts are for three child cancer charities - Children
with Cancer UK, Clic Sargent and World Child Cancer.
"The intention is to generate local and national publicity to
raise awareness and create opportunities for fundraising to
help the children."
The charitable cause is one close to Mr Ulriksen's heart. In
April, it will be five years since his wife Bronwyn died from
cancer.
He said running was a great release for him and a good way to
deal with some of the grief.
In 2008, Mr Ulriksen walked 2400km from Adelaide to Brisbane,
raising more than $20,000 for the McGrath foundation, a fund
set up by former Australian cricket fast bowler Glen McGrath
after his wife died of cancer.
