The Rowley family, at Lake Hawea Station, recently hosted celebrity chef Sean Connolly, who filmed an episode of his latest television show, On the Grill, at the property.

The series explores the best produce New Zealand has to offer, as Connolly sources ingredients for his restaurant, the Grill, at Auckland's Sky City.

The episode featuring the Rowleys is scheduled to air on TV3 on November 24 at 7pm. It will promote Silere alpine origin merino, a premium meat brand launched last year through a joint venture between the New Zealand Merino Company and Silver Fern Farms.

Lake Hawea Station owner Tom Rowley said his family had always preferred the taste of merino over other lamb and were proud to be part of the Silere merino programme.

Connolly called Silere merino the "Rolls-Royce of lamb" after trialling it during the Rugby World Cup.

He has since featured it at exclusive international events and on the Grill menu.
