A "highly intoxicated" Mexican man living in Queenstown
copped a punch on the nose when he leapt out of the bushes to
scare a woman.
Senior Constable Chris Blackford, of Queenstown, said the man
hid in the bushes near Queenstown Primary School at 1.15am
yesterday thinking it would be funny to jump out to scare a
woman, and grab her.
"Unfortunately, her boyfriend popped him on the nose for his
troubles," Snr Const Blackford said.
A member of the public called an ambulance after seeing the
20-year-old man sitting on the footpath.
The man had previously been warned for his behaviour while
grossly intoxicated, though police would not be taking the
matter further.
"When you are grossly intoxicated your sense of humour might
not be the same as non-intoxicated people," Snr Const
Blackford said.
