Queenstown police are looking for a 1.82m Irishman, possibly
ginger-haired, who could be named Seamus, following a
seemingly unprovoked attack on a Queenstown man.
At 2.40am on Friday, the 32-year-old victim was walking
across Earnslaw Park when he was approached by a man who
shouted, then proceeded to grab and wrestle with him.
Detective Matt Jones said the victim, after being forced to
the ground, was kicked and may have lost consciousness.
When he came to, at least four people helped him to a park
bench. Det Jones said the victim heard the witnesses tell the
offender "you kicked him in the back of the head, there are
cameras everywhere" and that he should run.
The offender was referred to as "Seamus" and he fled.
The victim made his way to the police station, and despite
having a sore neck and possible bruising, he chose not to
seek medical attention.
Part of the attack was captured on CCTV cameras, which
verified the victim's account.
