Queenstown Library assistant Kay Turner adds a can to the
library's fine amnesty Christmas can tree. A can of food in
exchange for $5 off your library fine is a ''win-win''
situation and has been extended until this Saturday.
The cans will would be donated to Happiness House. Queenstown
Library manager Robyn Robertson said the extension allowed
more cans to be collected before Christmas.
''We are just delighted to be able to do something for the
local community,'' Ms.Robertson said.
''We get to give at this time of year and our patrons get to
clear some of their fines,'' and she noted some people had
come in solely to donate a can or two. Cans must be within
their use-by-date and have no rust or dents.
