An economic vision for the Queenstown Lakes District, a range of desirable outcomes and a series of recommendations has been released by an economic task force established as part of the Shaping our Future initiative.
The economic futures task force, set up following public forums earlier this year, has been studying the economic makeup of the area for the past four months.
Central to the task force's recommendations was the establishment of an economic futures agency or equivalent, to deliver an economic strategy aligned with the priorities identified at Shaping our Future forums in the past two years. The task force recommended seed funding for the agency be secured from relevant stakeholders, identified in the report.
Its report will be considered by public forums early next year.
