The Queenstown Mountain Bike Club's inaugural Downhill Series
attracted 50 riders from in and round the Wakatipu yesterday
and organisers say it is a sign the series could be a
success.
A subcommittee of the club has decided to host six events
over two months. One organiser, Corrie Mullin, said the first
surpassed expectations as 50 competitors had signed up within
half an hour.
The course, the QBP's Ants Trail, was only revealed on the
morning so riders would not have any competitive advantage,
Mr Mullin said.
Five more competition days until March 10 will be held across
three venues - Remarkables, Wynyard and the Queenstown Bike
Park.
