New Zealand's leading contemporary dance company will
bring its latest masterpiece to the Festival of Colour in
Queenstown and Wanaka in April next year.
Festival organisers announced this week Black Grace
(pictured) was booked to perform Waka after a sell-out tour
of Germany.
''Founding artistic director and choreographer Neil Ieremia
is one of this country's most accomplished and respected
artists,'' festival director Philip Tremewan, of Wanaka,
said.
''Through his vision he imbues Black Grace with an explosive
mix of Pacific culture and contemporary dance.
''Waka has been met with standing ovations in Europe and
we're delighted to bring it to New Zealand audiences as part
of the Festival of Colour.
''Black Grace is internationally renowned for its artistry,
creative excellence and innovation and to see them perform is
an unforgettable experience that is sure to inspire festival
audiences.''
Public ticket sales start on February 25 and priority booking
for patrons and sponsors from February 14. The Black Grace
show in the renovated Queenstown Memorial Centre is set for
April 19.
