Clearer guidelines are now in place regarding funding given
to community organisations by the Queenstown Lakes District
Council.
At the last general council meeting for 2012, held on
December 18, councillors agreed to allocate $5000 per annum
to each of the 15 identified community associations, subject
to the funding being provided for in the annual plan.
Community associations must also sign a memorandum of
understanding with the council before funding is received.
Included in the memorandum's criteria is that the association
be an incorporated society, representative of the community,
has an interest in all community issues and, if the grant is
not spent during the financial year, it be returned to the
council.
The council's arts and events facilitator, Jan Maxwell, chief
executive Adam Feeley and Queenstown Mayor Vanessa van Uden
will attend the various community associations' meetings.
