Queenstown police warn people breaking the liquor ban in the
resort over the new year holiday will be fined instantly and
underage drinkers will attract police attention.
Visitors have flocked to the resort since Friday and police
have focused their attention on people drinking in the
central business district.
Sergeant Kate Pirovano said some visitors were choosing to
ignore liquor-ban signs around the resort.''
They can't claim they haven't seen the bright neon signs when
driving into town. There is no excuse for people to drink in
a public place,'' she said. However, behaviour had been
''pretty good'' so far.
