Alan Waters, of Bannockburn, won the first prize of $5000 at the Aspiring Art exhibition in Wanaka last night with his watercolour painting The Meaning of Life. A full-time artist for more than 17 years, Waters has previously won prizes at the Wanaka exhibition and elsewhere.
Runner-up was David John, of Arrowtown, with his portrait Monday Blue No 2. Sue Wademan won the best landscape award with A Taste of Tuscany.
