On average, the Queenstown national sevens has given
$45,000 per annum back to the local community during the past
nine years.
Sevens with Altitude chairman Clark Frew said the money was
given to support causes including rugby clubs and ice hockey.
Mr Frew said the amount to be distributed after the weekend's
tournament, which was won by Taranaki, is yet to be
determined.
Queenstown has hosted the tournament for 10 years.
Now, it is
to be hosted by the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union in Rotorua.
''If asked, we will help in any way,'' Mr Frew said.
